Career Planning for Young Engineers

Workshop jointly sponsored by the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME) and the Tuning Test Question Bank of the National Institute for Educational Policy Research (NIER)

Date] Friday, March 22, 2024, 14:00-17:00

Venue] Tokyo University of Science, Morito Memorial Hall, Forum 1 & Online

(4-2-2-2 Kagurazaka, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo 162-0825, Japan)

Purpose of the Forum

Although Japan claims to be a country based on science and technology, there is a growing awareness that Japan is losing its international competitiveness in science and technology, research, and industry. In addition, there is great concern about the depth of the human resource base for the next generation due to the declining birthrate and aging population. Against this backdrop, in order for Japan to continue to play an important role internationally in the future, the key will be for individuals to consider their own careers and improve their skills, and for a human resource development system to be put in place to support them. In this workshop, we will discuss the future of career planning for young professional engineers, focusing on human resource development goals, achievement evaluation, continuing education, and the development of human resource development programs, taking into account international trends.
