The Tuning Test Item Bank Project, a collaborative initiative among higher education experts in Japan, is pleased to announce progress on its mission to develop shared understandings of learning outcomes across in the Southeast Asia region. This project brings together international and national experts to create a common pool of test items that measure student knowledge, understanding, and skills upon graduation. By working together, universities can refine assessment practices and improve teaching and learning.
On June 23, 2023, the project's International Committee met virtually to discuss the results of a Tuning Test implemented in December 2022 at four Indonesian universities: Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB), Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Sampoerna University, and Hasanuddin University.
The committee also explored the potential of using Machine Learning technology to automate the grading of future Tuning Test results, aiming to further streamline the assessment process. Additionally, they strategized the next steps for the project's ASEAN hub, outlining potential future initiatives and collaborations.
